INTERESTED NEW FAMILIES
New Families Information
Hello to all interested new families!
• Swim with Beth is a developmental swim program designed around consistent work to achieve consistent results. We believe repetition and dedication are the best paths to building confidence and competency in the water, and our program is structured with that in mind. To help your swimmer succeed, attendance is very important. If you enroll in the program, we ask that you make every effort to attend all scheduled classes.
• We maintain a waitlist for prospective new families and contact swimmers as space becomes available. If you are not initially placed in the program, openings may become available later in the year. Available days and times may not immediately match your preferred schedule, but movement between sessions does occur. If you are offered a spot, we strongly recommend accepting it even if it is not your preferred day or time, as families are often able to move into a more preferred session later in the year.
• Our policy is that we do not offer make-up classes. However, if space allows and we are notified ahead of time about an absence, we will always do our best to accommodate a make-up opportunity when possible. To ensure our coaches can appropriately support every swimmer, we must carefully manage the number of swimmers in each lane.
• If you know your swimmer will be absent from a practice, please let us know in advance. Advance notice may allow us to offer that space to another swimmer needing a make-up class. Unfortunately, if a practice is missed without notice, we are unable to offer any make-up opportunity.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for your interest in Swim with Beth! Helping grow the next generation of swimmers is truly something special, and we are excited to be part of your swimmer’s journey.
Fall, Winter, Spring Sessions
BLANK
Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday groups are a non-traditional SWB style, where there will be fewer or no coaches in the water (depending on the lane your swimmer is in). Feedback will be provided in real-time through underwater headsets.
The focus at the beginning of the year is on form and technique, gradually progressing towards a light endurance emphasis by the end of the season. There will be a greater emphasis on IM turns and 50s for swimmers ages 9 and older, compared to the Saturday/Sunday groups.
NO MEET REQUIREMENT, unlike traditional club swim teams.
Saturday/Sunday groups are set up in the more traditional SWB style, where there are more coaches in the water to provide hands-on feedback. The emphasis in all of the lanes is on developing/furthering stroke mechanics, not endurance. These groups are good for kids who are kinesthetic learners who benefit from the hands-on feedback.
Saturday Steps are for children who cannot swim a full length across the pool without assistance. These children need to be able to blow bubbles, put their face in the water, and push off the step independently to be eligible for this class. Groups are composed of 3-4 children with a single coach.
Sunday Swim Lessons are for children unable to swim across the pool and are composed of small groups of 2-3 swimmers per coach. Swimmers will initially practice going halfway with a coach with the goal of completing the entire lap.
Sunday Group 7:30-8:30 PM is for swimmers looking for stroke correction with endurance building. They must do a try out before enrolling.
